SMC was able to be competitive despite the relatively small contract value and establishment of plant and equipment from the east coast. The contract required a wide range of disciplines in a challenging sea state environment, including pile driving, bridge and wharf carpentry, structural steel assembly, on-site welding, sandblasting and painting, and precast concrete installation.
