
12 Dec Narrabeen Pedestrian & Cycle Bridge
SMC provided an innovative and durable prefabricated modular Aluminium solution to a conventionally-design bridge for Northern Beaches Council. The project involved development, engineering, design and construction of a 4m wide, 110-metre long, 50-year design life pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Narrabeen Lagoon. The new pedestrian and cycle bridge is situated adjacent to the vehicle bridge and works included engineering, supply & installation of:
- Dual steel piles with HDPE sleeves;
- Structural aluminium headstocks;
- 14 spans of prefabricated, preassembled structural aluminium bridge deck modules
- Panelised painted steel balustrading;
- Stainless steel handrailing
- Piled sandstone block abutments;
- Concrete pathways and transitions and concrete pathway
- Removal and rehabilitation of existing footpaths and transitions
- Significant landscape and bank remediation works
