Watsons Bay Baths Refurbishment

Complete refurbishment of the Watsons Bay ocean baths.

This included demolition and installation of new structure including; piles, shark net, precast and in-situ concrete, architectural balustrades, floating pontoon and a fixed aluminium disabled access ramp.

SMC undertook the partial demolition of the old central boardwalk and archways to allow for a wider boardwalk and better views across the harbour. This included the construction of the new Olympic sized lap pool with two floating turning boards / sunbathing pontoons surrounded by a secure shark netting. Installation of the new pontoon boardwalk which protects the marine ecology environment by reducing the need for swimmers to walk over the seagrass.

  • Design and installation of shark net with new design utilising custom smaller panels.
  • Installation of Australia’s first deep water wheelchair access pontoon to a tidal pool.
