Urangan Pier Major Refurbishment

The project included removal and replacement of various structural elements along the full length of the pier, including piles, headstocks, girders and cross braces.

SMC was able to reduce the contract value considerably by re-designing the pile replacement assembly. An innovative composite pile design was developed to achieve a 100-year design life. SMC also designed and constructed a temporary access structure, allowing the pier to remain open for the duration of the works.
