SMC Marine is proud to be delivering the new Callan Park Tidal Baths project at Lilyfield on Sydney’s Inner West foreshore. Appointed by Inner West Council as the Design & Construct Contractor, SMC Marine is responsible for the design development and construction delivery of this significant community infrastructure project.
Located on the shores of Iron Cove within the historic Callan Park precinct, the project will provide a new public harbour swimming destination featuring accessible pathways, marine structures and swimming facilities designed to reconnect the community with the Parramatta River. The facility will include an accessible pathway and ramp, a fixed jetty, floating pontoon infrastructure and a protected swimming area.
As with all SMC Marine projects, delivery requires a careful balance between engineering excellence, environmental stewardship and stakeholder management. The project is being constructed within a sensitive waterfront environment that includes heritage considerations, marine ecology requirements and active public recreation areas. Project planning has therefore incorporated a range of environmental protection and construction management measures to minimise impacts while ensuring safe and efficient delivery.
The Callan Park Tidal Baths continue SMC Marine’s long history of delivering marine and waterfront infrastructure that enhances access to Australia’s waterways. From major maritime facilities and defence infrastructure through to public recreational assets, SMC Marine remains committed to creating infrastructure that delivers lasting value for communities.
For SMC Marine, the project is particularly meaningful given its location in Sydney, where the company was founded more than 25 years ago. The project reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering marine infrastructure that improves the way people connect with the water, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental performance.
Upon completion, the Callan Park Tidal Baths will provide residents and visitors with a unique harbour swimming experience and become a valuable addition to one of Sydney’s most popular waterfront recreation corridors.
