SMC Marine Presents at Engineers Australia Event

SMC Marine was proud to participate in a recent Engineers Australia Wide Bay event focused on the refurbishment, cathodic protection and coating of the iconic Urangan Pier in Hervey Bay, Queensland. The event brought together engineers and industry professionals to explore the technical challenges and solutions involved in extending the service life of marine infrastructure in aggressive coastal environments.

Presented in collaboration with project partners and industry specialists, the session provided valuable insights into the assessment, protection and rehabilitation of marine structures exposed to long-term corrosion and environmental deterioration. Among the topics discussed were cathodic protection systems, coating performance, asset management strategies and practical considerations associated with delivering works in a live marine environment.

SMC Marine’s Kyle Roberton joined fellow presenters from Scape Consulting and Denso Australia to share project experiences and lessons learned from the delivery of marine infrastructure rehabilitation works. The event also included a site visit, providing attendees with the opportunity to view the works firsthand and discuss technical solutions directly with project representatives.
